Waldbaden im privaten Wald
The forest around Ursulinenhof offers ideal conditions for what is known as forest bathing. It’s about consciously spending time in the woods, slowing down, and experiencing nature with all your senses. The peaceful setting and the immediate location within and next to the forest make Ursulinenhof an ideal place for relaxation and nature-based recreation.
Collecting sweet chestnuts in autumn
In our own forest grow sweet chestnut trees that were planted several years ago and now produce an abundant harvest. In the fall, guests are welcome—by prior arrangement—to collect chestnuts and enjoy the unique atmosphere of the woods.
Gathering sweet chestnuts is a special experience for both children and adults alike.
The Horses Across the Courtyard
Das Ferienhaus Ursulinenhof ist Teil einer Hofanlage im Grünen. Direkt gegenüber des Ferienhauses – etwa 20 Meter entfernt – befindet sich eine Anlage mit Reithalle, Stallungen, Wirtschaftsgebäuden und mehreren Paddocks.
A veterinarian runs a practice here specializing in the care and breeding of high-quality mares. Especially between March and August, several horses can often be seen in the nearby paddocks, sometimes mares with young horses from the previous year.
The horses come from different breeding farms and usually stay at the facility only for a short time. Because of this, there are often different horses to observe, adding to the character of the farmstead.
Since the horses belong to different owners and are only temporarily kept at the facility, they are not meant to be touched or fed. Even if individual gates or buildings are open, we kindly ask our guests not to enter the stables, paddocks, or the riding arena and to observe the horses only from a respectful distance.
Many guests find these quiet moments while looking out across the courtyard especially enjoyable — the horses in the paddocks, the surrounding meadows, and the nearby forest together create an authentic sense of life in the countryside.
Winter in the low mountain range
Snow-covered forests and wide white fields shape the winter landscape around the Ursulinenhof in the Kellerwald. Just outside the door, gentle hills invite you to go sledding, while inside the open fireplace creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. After a winter walk in the crisp air, it’s the perfect place to relax and let your gaze wander across the quiet landscape.
Winter in the Kellerwald has its own special charm: quiet forests, crisp days, and plenty of space for nature and relaxation. A trip to the nearby Edersee is also well worth it at this time of year. When the water level is low, old structures that were long submerged occasionally reappear along the shore—an especially fascinating sight for explorers.
During the Advent season, the Christmas markets in the surrounding towns—such as Fritzlar, Marburg, or Bad Wildungen—invite visitors to enjoy festive outings and make a winter holiday in Northern Hesse especially memorable.
